With over 20+ years of classroom experience, Mrs. Frick brings professional art and sewing instruction to families in Oak Park, River Forest, and nearby neighborhoods through her two creative studio locations.

From District 97 Teacher to Community Studio Leader

Mrs. Frick has deep roots in Oak Park. As a retired middle school teacher from District 97, she taught thousands of local students and is known for connecting with children from all backgrounds, including those with neuro-diverse needs. Her decision to start Frick Kids Art came from a desire to provide a more organized and professional option than casual crafting spaces. By combining a thoughtful curriculum with an inclusive, supportive environment, Mrs. Frick helps every student build technical skills and confidence. Her leadership has made Frick Kids Art a trusted choice for parents who value academic enrichment and creative growth.

Phyllis Frick


Phyllis is a retired Middle School Teacher. She has a Master of Arts in Teaching from Dominican University and a Drawing Certificate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Frick is a lifelong learner and continues to study art and teach children at her business, Frick Kids Art which she founded in her home studio in 2023. She specializes in collage, drawing, painting, sculpture and sewing. Frick loves to experiment with different mediums and inspire and get inspired by her students.

Emily Heneghan


Emily is studying K-12 art education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She practices mixed media, sculpture, and large scale painting. She has refined her process into an experimental practice that focuses on abstraction and play. Working in many areas like moldmaking and casting, found object art, and furniture upcycling she uses her multifaceted interests to look at projects with a new perspective and is always learning from her students.

Reilly Duda



Reilly is currently studying psychology at Dominican University. She is an artist with an array of interests including Anime, wheel throwing and painting. What Reilly  loves about art is how it can express feelings and emotions in ways that are different and unexpected.  Reilly likes to have meaning flow into her pieces about subjects that can be hard to explain, such as fears and phobias.

Bailey Mahoney



Bailey is a student at Oak Park River Forest High School. She has an affinity for anything creative and is great with kids. Bailey loves art because “without art the world would be boring.” Bailey wants to share the wonders of creativity with the next generation.

Jana Frank



Jana is the proud owner of the Mathnasium in Oak Park/River Forest and has been partnering with Frick Kids Art since before it's inception. Jana collaborated with Phyllis Frick when she was still teaching science at Brooks Middles School.  Jana loves hosting Frick Kids Art Workshops at Mathnasium because she sees the intersection of math and art as an opportunity to stimulate the multiple intelligences and different parts of the brain for a fully engaging experience.

Trevor Edwards



Trevor has been working as an educator for the last ten years, currently in District 97 in Oak Park, as well as the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn. He loves working with children of all ages and helping students develop new skills.  Most of the art he creates tends to be hand drawn, but he loves exploring different mediums to spark new ideas

ROBOTHINK



RoboThink is a leading STEAM, coding, robotics and engineering program for kids. Our exciting themed STEAM programs develops core STEAM skills that students apply to school subjects and their future careers. Robothink is now partnering with Frick Kids Art to build robots that can make art!

Lydia Endora



Lydia Endora has over fifteen years experience designing and sewing dresses and clothing. She loves sustainable fashion that maks a bold, stylish statement. Lydia loves sharing her skills and helping others learn to craft pieces that not only fit perfectly but also tell a story of sustainability and innovation.

Zoe Fritz



Zoë is studying k-12 art education at Calvin University in Michigan, She loves all kinds of art, especially the 3D kinds and has a passion for working with kids. Her personal work focuses on finding beauty in every little thing possible, from nature to rambunctious tiny humans.

With two locations, she designed the Woodbine Avenue Art Studio and the Madison Street Sewing Center to provide high-quality instruction in painting, sculpture, sewing, and STEAM projects.
