Hands-On Summer Learning for Creative Kids

A Safe, Skill-Building Summer Camp Experience

Frick Kids Art’s summer camps give children and teens a unique chance to learn, connect, and create in a professional art studio. Our camps offer both full-day and half-day sessions throughout the summer, giving families flexible scheduling options. Each camp is planned by experienced educators and focuses on project-based learning. Campers work on painting, sculpture, sewing, and mixed media, using real art materials and equipment such as sewing machines, Glowforge laser cutters, and Cricut tools. Teachers who specialize in K-12 art education guide every session. We welcome students ages 5 to 16 from Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, and nearby suburbs. Whether your child is passionate about art or just wants a fun, creative summer, our camps are designed to support growth, confidence, and friendships in a supportive environment.

Expert-Led Camps Trusted by Local Families

Why Parents Choose Frick Kids Art for Summer

Parents in Oak Park and nearby areas choose our summer camps for more than just fun activities. Our program was created by Phyllis Frick, a retired District 97 teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience and a Master’s in Teaching. Families know their children are learning in a secure, organized space. Our instructors are teachers and advanced art students trained in educational best practices, not just counselors. We keep group sizes small so every camper gets personal attention, and our staff is skilled at supporting neuro-diverse children and encouraging social-emotional growth. Our camps are known for high-quality, display-worthy projects like framed shadow boxes, handmade plushies, and useful sewn items. Frick Kids Art is a trusted enrichment center where creativity is guided by experienced teachers.

What to Expect: Camp Structure and Daily Activities

Art, Sewing, and STEAM Projects in Every Session

Each day at our summer art camps is thoughtfully planned to balance creativity, learning, and fun. Campers rotate through activities such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking, weaving, and textile arts. At our Sewing Center, kids ages 7 and up learn to use sewing machines and make plush toys, zippered bags, and simple clothing. The Art Studio features STEAM-based projects, like building robots that draw or creating tessellation-inspired art in partnership with local organizations. All supplies and equipment are provided, and every camper completes a take-home project daily. Camps run by class schedule and appointment only, with no unscheduled walk-ins. Full-day sessions are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and half-day options are available for added flexibility. Our process focuses on safety, inclusion, and hands-on learning, making camp both educational and enjoyable.
